Job Description Summary
• Manages a team of R&D professionals, and leads projects with internal and external customers for the development of products and solutions in the cosmetic and cleaning industry.

• Independently evaluates and drives the implementation of new products and technologies in the field of cosmetic and cleaning applications in the China region.






Responsibilities
• Responsible for the development of products and solutions in the field of oleochemistry and biotechnology for cosmetic and home care and cleaning applications in the China region.

• Lead scouting activities for new products and/or technology as well as project management in the field of biotechnology, with internal and external customers/partners.

• Lead and contribute information to business cases, research funding to quantify current costs, justify project investment, and identify the return on investment.

• Lead, contribute and exchange with global experts in the related fields. Filing of Intellectual Property applications for patents to protect the team's research & development work.

• Guide scientific experiments and tests and contribute to the translation of results into practical applications, via efficient collaborations with internal labs and/or external partners.

• Contribute to the Greater China R&D innovation platform.

• Responsibility for lab management including but not limited to chemical, process, equipment etc., safety.






Requirements
• PhD degree in organic chemistry combined with a good background in biochemistry and/or biotechnology experience in oleochemistry or polymer chemistry is a plus, working experience in Research & Development area is preferred.

• Excellent people management and collaborating skills, building network with others, experience enables job holder to deal with the majority of situations and to advise others.

• Experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes.

• Track record in managing projects with budget and team responsibility

• Works independently and as part of a team, reliability and capacity to perform well under pressure – also in times of heavy work load.

• Acts independently to apply comprehensive understanding of the business environment and objectives developing solutions while providing guidance and training to others.

• Acts independently using comprehensive knowledge and/or skills to conduct research and analyze data while guiding and training others on how to develop a comprehensive understanding of customer and market conditions that enables maximum return on investments.

• Excellent communication skills in both Chinese and English, be able to build trust, establish relationships with internal global expertise and external partners.
