RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Safety & Compliance Management: The PM must lead by example the Evonik Safety culture and always follow strictly the compliance of the Company Code of Conduct. The PM will not hesitate to stop the process or activity if safety or compliance is compromised and escalate the issue to the senior management level.
2. Engineering management: The Project Manager need to have a sound understanding of the process provided by the project responsible (PR). Working along with the PR, the PM must identify and pro**e idea that help in optimizing the CAPEX as well as in the operational cost. The PM need to provide a comprehensive (extended) basic engineering package for the engineering contractor that takes into the account of the local market conditions. The **ition will supervise the engineering contractor during detail engineering and support the permitting process. The PM will put emphasis on a cost-efficient design and enforce jointly with the other project managers and lead engineers of the investment project. This is to ensure that the engineering contractor maintains an efficient matrix organization using synergies for the same disciplines (piping, electrical, instrumentation etc.) across the entire investment project.
3. Purchasing management: The PM is in charge to purchase equipment and services. The PM needs to work with the Procurement organization and follow strictly any compliance & legal requirements as defined in the company to secure the best **sible purchasing conditions for the project. The PM will also consider and seek the inputs from the other project managers, the lead engineers and the principal project manager that are involved in the purchasing topic.
4. Construction management: The PM is in charge for the construction of the plant and work closely with the external construction management organization of the engineering contractor as well as construction specialists internally especially for greenfield projects.
5. Controlling management: On a regular basis, the PM will generate project reports with the support of and after alignment with the project controller and project responsible, that mainly covers the project progress report and cost status report includes forecasts on the cost development.
6. Owner’s Engineering mindset: The PM need to understand from the Owner’s engineering point of view the various requirements, challenges and problems facing the Business line and thereby proactively develop and provide relevant technical solutions. The development of deep understanding about people, plants and processes are vital and of particular importance for brownfield projects.
